Collision physics calculator5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() Is there a simple physics/math formula for this already? I'm having problems for when the slopes are equal, but different magnitude. I tried calculating the distance when, at the moment object 1 is at the intersection point, it's distance from object 2, and likewise when o2 is at the intersection point, but this did not work as it's possible to have collision when they are not at their intersection. I'm also filtering out and using special handling for when the slope is 0 or infinite, which is working. I'm working under the precondition that it's impossible for 2 objects to be overlapping at t0, which means infinite collision of "stuck inside each other" is not possible. I solved for a, b, and c and applied the quadratic formula, and I believe that if I'm assuming they were phantom objects, this would give me the first moment of collision and the final moment of collision, and I could assume at every moment between, they are overlapping. My initial setup was: dist( x1+dx1*t, y1+dy1*t, x2+dx2*t, y2+dy2*t ) = r1+r2īy assuming the distance at any time t could be calculated with Pythagoras, I would like to know the two points in time in which the distance from the centers is precisely the sum of the radii. I'm about 100 lines of code deep, and I feel sure there must be a better way, and I'm not even sure whether my test cases are correct or not. Technically, a single point collision should be possible. It's possible two circles don't collide, and they may not have an intersection (as in 2 cars "clipping" each other while driving too close to the middle of the road in opposite directions), which is messing up all my mx+b solutions. I'm looking for an O(1) formula to calculate the (0 or 1 or 2) clock time(s) in which two circles are exactly r1+r2 distance from each other. SecondsPassed = (timeStamp - oldTimeStamp) / 1000 įor (let i = 0 i < gameObjects.I keep stumbling into game/simulation solutions for finding distance while time is running, and it's not what I'm looking for. Update your game loop with the following code to loop over the newly created game objects and draw them on the screen. For now, this function is very static, but you could easily modify it to create more random squares or use some spawning algorithm.Įverything is in place to draw squares now. They are passed a position and speed as arguments. In the function, a bunch of squares are created. Make some squares to fill up your game world using this createWorld() function. You can create a new instance of a class by using the new keyword. The square is just an example, but you could also make objects like enemies or players for your game this way. They inherit the attributes and methods of the GameObject class. This enables you to easily create new types of game objects. Every game object has a position and a speed. For now, all squares will be blue.Īll the squares inherit from the GameObject class. You'll see this in action when the first collisions are detected. When this object is colliding, it will change color from blue to red. The fillStyle in this new class is tweaked a bit. You'll have the behavior and looks of the square in one, easy-to-manage, place. This way you can create many instances of a square and they all use the same logic to draw and update. Only this time it is baked into a separate square class. There is a draw() and a update() function, just like in the previous tutorial. (this.x, this.y, this.width, this.height) Let's expand that logic and create a whole bunch of moving objects to fill your game. In the previous tutorial you've learned how to move a single rectangle. If you already know how to create moving objects and are just interested in detecting collisions or physics, scroll down to the next section.īefore you can detect collisions between moving objects, you'll need some objects to begin with.

Tad 8 way santa5/21/2023 ![]() But SST began a devolution into its third wave by signing seemingly hundreds of lame, jazzy/jammy bands like The Alter Natives, Slovenly, Always August and Painted Willie. And then there was SST Records, the ultra-hip California label whose second wave signees (Firehose, Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth et al) occupied the DMZ between the aforementioned camps.įrom ’85 to ’87 or thereabouts, SST was, hands down, the label. So, by ’84 the cooler skinhead and mohawked dudes had grown their hair out and realigned themselves with one of two camps: The more inward-looking and purportedly sensitive types enrolled in college radio’s Alternative Nation, while the hard-partying, rougher ’n’ rowdier dudes gravitated toward speed metal. The hardcore punk that had been a revelation in 1982 had crystallized into cliché by ’83. And they were a little bit lucky, too.Īmerica’s subaltern musical landscape of the mid to late ’80s was a weird, liminal space. And you’ve gotta admit, these guys had balls of steel and a wee bit of business acumen, to boot. Jonathan Poneman and Bruce Pavitt were the wannabe Svengalis who had the guts, audacity and derring do to build an empire of sorts with their label, Sub Pop Records. The American grunge phenomenon of the early ’90s was not nearly so much an eruption from the underground as it was the result of a deftly choreographed branding campaign mounted by a couple of carpet-bagging dilettantes who just so happened to be in the right place (Seattle) at the right time (the mid ’80s) to reshape a loosely aggregated, regional music scene as a prefab musical subculture for fun and profit.

Motogp 21 ps45/21/2023 ![]() Milestone has seemingly left their newly created Neural AI 2.0 untouched for this year’s game, leaving well enough alone, and seem to also have left their graphics department untouched this year as well, disappointingly. MotoGP 21 is an incremental update to 2020’s game that refined Milestone’s Neural AI 2.0, a technology first introduced in MotoGP 19 and intended to fix the problem of their stale racing NPCs by creating unique, dynamic AI that reacts more aggressively or passively to what the player is doing on the track depending on each AI’s attributes. The tutorial is a welcome addition that will get new players feeling comfortable and confident behind the handlebars faster than 2020’s game. New to this year is a robust tutorial system that will introduce the basic game mechanics to get you rolling at first and then a separate section of tutorials to get you acclimated to the more advanced game mechanics. Turning down some of the more challenging aspects of the games never took away from how good it felt to ride. A novice player can quickly start carving out turns like a pro with this tool. There is even the option to enable a handy visual aid that presents itself along the track which will direct you in how fast or slow you are supposed to be taking a turn and it works well for adjusting to MotoGP’s physics engine. Luckily, MotoGP gives you the flexibility to dial down a lot of the mechanical complexities of the game. The mechanics are still a lot to manage and for new players, it is a real challenge to learn it all. Lengthier game modes include skills trees tailored towards your bike with upgrade points which are earned as you ride making the process of sticking with your machine quite rewarding. Hardcore fans will be pleased with just how much detail goes into the handling and how good it feels to control your bike on the track. Milestone is clear in its goal to present a simulation-like racing experience instead of the more arcade-like offerings presently on the market. While this little feature is neat for the immersion, it makes me wonder why this was at all necessary to include when the AI is immune to this feature and simply respawns directly after a crash, putting the player at a direct disadvantage. Also new to MotoGP is the ability to retrieve your bike after you take a rough spill. Lots of thought goes into the process of braking, turning, and accelerating with multiple variables all being taken into account within the game’s excellent physics engine, a few of which include weather conditions, weight distribution, and bike inertia.Įven the most minute details, like the newly added brake temperature feature, can impact the way you play. The MotoGP series is a whole different beast in the world of video game driving compared to the more standard and simple mainstream offerings and to the uninitiated could be a daunting task to learn the intricacies of how MotoGP operates. Upon first launching the game and getting ready for a weekend on the track, new players will quickly find out that the driving in this game is not akin to the mechanics of say GTA. ![]() Feeling the wind in your helmet and leaving rubber on the track is what the MotoGP series is all about and this year’s installment is no different, however, it does very little different from last year’s game.Įqual parts challenging to learn and fun to play, MotoGP’s driving mechanics are a tough nut to crack. With rich attention to detail in its complex racing and driving mechanics, there is a lot to love about the long-standing series if you’re a fan of the sport. Offering up what is the most immersive and realistic 2-wheel racing experience on the market, Milestone’s MotoGP is the go-to franchise for fans looking to elevate their motorcycle racing game experience.

Kiss of death5/20/2023 ![]() Two other actors have key roles in here: Brian Donlevy and Colleen Gray (making her credited film debut, too1). He also calls everyone a "squirt." His over- the-top performance puts a lot a spark into this film which, otherwise would have wound up more as a melodrama. Among film noir buffs, however, this film is noted more for Richard Widmark's debut as the sadistic "Tommy Udo." One of the most famous noir scenes of all time is "Udo" throwing an old lady in a wheelchair down a flight of stairs! Widmark puts on a fake pair of choppers giving him an exaggerated overbite to go along with his insane little giggle. In the story, he turns "stoolie" so he can earn that freedom and be that family man. Here's a guy torn between being a crook most of his life and the damage it did to him mentally, but at heart a real softie who is desperate to go straight and just be a regular family guy with everyone leaving him alone. This was a 1940s film noir with a little bit different slant: the main character "Nick Bianco" (Victor Mature) being a caring father. Hopefully the American Film Institute will give Widmark a Lifetime Achievement Award and soon. That's a shame because I could think of a couple of other films like Night and the City, Pickup on South Street and Panic in the Streets that would have been worthy of consideration. For all the many good performances Richard Widmark has given in his 91 years, his debut film turned out to be the only time he was ever nominated for an Oscar. His Earle Houser is definitely one of the sleaziest lawyers ever portrayed on the screen. ![]() Though he only has a few scenes, criminal defense attorney Taylor Holmes is also a real stand out. Brian Donlevy, usually a villain, does a good job as the District Attorney. He's caught between concern for his family and living up to the honor system that criminals have among themselves. Mature gives a very good performance of a man running out of options. At that point he rethinks becoming a stoolie for District Attorney Brian Donlevy and the main action of the film begins. Things then go bad for Mature when his wife commits suicide and his two little daughters wind up in an orphanage. By his refusal to be a stoolie, Mature gains the friendship of Widmark who has a special hatred for the breed. He refuses to rat them out and gets a stretch in prison for it. Mature is a career criminal who was left holding the bag for his associates during a jewel heist. Widmark was fourth billed in this film and so dominates it that it's forgotten that Victor Mature is the lead and contributes a good performance in his own right. Widmark in fact had to really convince his bosses at 20th Century Fox that he was capable of more than being a psychopathic killer. That maniacal giggle became his trademark and fodder for impressionists from then on in. When Widmark tied up Mildred Dunnock and threw her down a flight of stairs, gasps aplenty came from audiences. Widmark's portrayal of Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death shocked audiences nationwide. ![]() No bit parts, no walk-ons, Widmark's first feature role netted him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and stardom. Richard Widmark belongs to a select few players who from their screen debut became instant stars.

The raid redemption full movie5/20/2023 He has a strong screen presence and charisma but he’s still inexperienced when compared to his seniors. That’s also a good thing because, in the acting department, Uwais as the main star is still pretty much a novice and it shows. This puts things into perspective for me: that actions sometimes speak louder than words and that’s exactly what The Raid is all about. It didn’t try to be philosophical or inspire thinky thoughts. I’m actually relieved that it didn’t try to be witty or clever. I’d imagine the physical script itself would contain more descriptions of how a room should look instead of how characters communicate the screenplay is probably designed to feature as much action as possible. Their palpable chemistry breathes life into the film’s exhilarating action, which will leave you cringing, screaming, gasping and hissing in proxy psychosomatic pain.Įvans’ script is a very lean one. ![]() When I watched the stuntment fight the police, I could see their signature all over the place. Their chemistry is glaringly obvious in the fighting scenes, even the ones where they’re not together. They got the nickname Devil Kid and Mad Dog (the latter also being Ruhian’s character’s name in the film) for their supreme BAMF!-ness on set. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009) do: with plenty of bromance. Uwais and Ruhiyan are like the Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman of fighting choreography and in real life they interact very much the way Kirk and Spock in J.J. Much props to Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian, then, who are the two in-house fighting choreographers for PT Merantau Films, the production house who made the film – shot on set for the most part in Jakarta, Indonesia. Silat itself is already a very showy martial arts discipline but combine that with great action performers and clever cinematography, nothing can go wrong. But it’s not just the silat moves alone that creates a dynamic picture – it’s the entire design of the fighting scenes, starting from how the actors and stunts moved, to the way Evans and his DoP worked the camera, that made for highly exciting sequences. Using pencak silat, one of Indonesia’s ‘national’ sports, the Welsh-born director Evans bring a new energy to the action genre. It is, as many people have mentioned, thanks to the fighting choreography that it can be as fantastic as it is. Needless to say, I had not wanted to watch The Raid: Redemption, the movie as renamed by Sony Pictures (its American distributor), when it came out.Īfter watching it, though, I understood exactly why the movie was popular and why it was good. ![]() His first film, Merantau, was more up my alley because it was drama with plenty of action… not pure action with nothing else but action. I don’t like violent and bloody movies and I was severely overwhelmed when I first heard about this movie that Evans made. Before you read my review of Gareth Evans’ The Raid, let me reiterate once more – as I have done in my press conference and screening report – that I’m not an action movie fanatic.

Buster brown shoes5/20/2023 ![]() Strong, healthy feet equal a strong, healthy body. The dismantling foot is mostly silent, and the fallout may take years to show until the day one notices a bunion. Wikler pointed out the next chance of foot deformity begins when young teens become seduced by fashion and begin to wear heels which atrophies and distorts developing foot muscles, especially in the medial arch, which then contributes toward a slow, breakdown of foot integrity. From The Des Moines Register (Des Moines, Iowa) July 26, 1979. That’s 172 million pair annually, with a wholesale value of 544 million. Wikler strongly advised parents to keep children barefooted until the age of four to ensure they develop strong, healthy feet.ĭr. The social Commentary of Pore Lil Mose was timely, and, although, the attitude it conveyed was dignified and kindly, it was of the era, and could not exist, today. Outcault was an excellent draftsman, his artwork was superior to all the other comic artists of the day, with, perhaps, the sole exception of the great Winsor McCay. The strip was beautifully drawn, and the characters were spot on. Each weekly panel took the form of letters written by Mose to his Mammy, back home in Cottonville Ga. It featured America’s first black comic hero, Pore Lil Mose, a seven year old black boy, living in New York City with: a cat, a monkey, a dog, and a bear named, Billy. No longer limited to the New York area, as the Yellow Kid had been, Buster’s fame was international.Ī fter the Yellow Kid, Outcault created and drew a panel comic strip called “Pore Lil Mose” for the next two years. Outcault, once again, following the Yellow Kid, and even more successful. W ho knew that Buster Brown was once a hugely popular comic strip, the worlds first comic mega hit! It was the work of R. "Froggy the Gremlin", played by a vinyl squeeze toy, appeared in a blast of talcum powder smoke each week, and wiggled, atop a grandfather’s clock, threatening to “plunk his magic twanger” at "Squeaky" the mouse, who was actually a live hamster, held captive, from the neck down, in a human body suit, and "Midnight", a really creepy dead black cat, who was more representative of taxidermy than puppetry. It featured a fat jovial host, "Smilin’ Ed McConnell" who was replaced, after he died by "Andy (less than) Divine". Named after its sponsor, the show had nothing to do with Buster Brown, other than the fact that it was paid for by his shoes. A part from living in the shoes of a million children, there was an awful TV show, a leftover from radio, called "Buster Brown’s Gang".

Dirt 4 wheeler5/20/2023 ![]() ATVs are More FunctionalĪTVs are designed for a much wider range of activities than a dirt bike. The nature of dirt biking trails also necessitates more in-depth instruction than that for ATVs. ![]() Off-road riders even use ATVs before they transition to dirt bikes. The process of learning the mechanics of a dirt bike is much more intensive, and it can take even years. You will also fall less often than you will do on a dirt bike. If you handle an ATV after just 5 minutes of instruction, you will find it easy to control it. Up to three dirt bikes can be arranged on a pickup while only one ATV can be fitted into the same vehicle. Transportation and storage costs also vary between the modes.ĪTVs typically take up more space. You have two tires to replace on a dirt bike than the four on an ATV. Maintenance costs also pile up more with an ATV. Dirt bike mods and accessories are also more plentiful by the fact that dirt bikes are more popular. You will part with more money to buy an ATV of the same rider class as a dirt bike. Dirt bikes are simpler by design, and they use fewer materials during manufacturing. If price is a primary concern, then the obvious choice is a dirt bike. ![]() Kids end up riding machines that are too big and powerful for them, putting them at direct risk. Parents often buy bigger models for kids with the view that they will “grow into them”. Even if riders on dirt bikes and ATVs both wear helmets, the one on the ATV will be more severely injured in the case of a crash.ĪTVs are particularly hazardous for a rider under the age of 16. In most states, wearing protective gear like helmets while on a dirt bike is law, but it is not the same case with ATVs.ĭirt bikers are sold on the safety illusion of ATVs and go minimal on protective gear. Studies also illustrate the common recklessness of riders on ATVs. With ATVs, however, they usually flip and fall on the rider. Riders are often thrown clear off dirt bikes. They, however, roll over quite easily and since there is no crash protection for the rider, the effects of the roll can be deadly.ĪTVs weigh twice the weight of dirt bikes, and while you can get away with sprains and strains in a dirt bike crash, ATV accidents often mean broken necks and backs.ĪTVs also impact more significantly on bystanders when they lose control. Victims of ATV incidents were found to be 50% more likely to succumb to their injuries and 55% more likely to be taken to the intensive care unit in comparison to victims of dirt bike crashes.ĪTVs seem safer since they are more stable and sturdier. ATVs are involved in fewer accidents but with deadlier outcomes than those of dirt bikes. Dirt Bikes are Safer than ATVsĪTVs are often deemed to be safer than dirt bikes, but studies presented by a John Hopkins team prove otherwise. This article will hopefully offer insight as you decide which bike to buy. None of them can be said to be better than the other, as it depends on your locality and what intentions you have for your vehicle. |
